What’s covered
- Loss, theft or damage to your hired marquee during the hire period. This includes tents, tipis, gazebos and similar structures.
- Staging, chairs, tables, lighting and portable toilets hired for use with the marquee.
- Cancellation, curtailment or rearrangement of your wedding caused directly and solely by loss, theft or damage to the marquee. This extends Section 1 of your policy.
Choose your cover and hire period
Prices include Insurance Premium Tax.
| Hire period | £25,000 cover | £50,000 cover |
|---|---|---|
| 4 days | £30 | £60 |
| 5 days | £40 | £70 |
| 6 days | £50 | £80 |
| 7 days | £60 | £90 |
The hire period you choose must cover the whole time you’re responsible for the marquee, up to a maximum of 7 consecutive days. The excess is £250.
Make sure your cover is high enough
Choose a cover level that matches the full cost of replacing the marquee and its equipment. Your marquee supplier can tell you this. If your cover is less than the full replacement value, any claim will be reduced in proportion. This is called “average”.
Example: your marquee would cost £40,000 to replace, but you chose £25,000 cover. That’s 62.5% of its value, so a £8,000 repair claim would be reduced to £5,000, before the excess.
What’s not covered
- Damage caused while the marquee or equipment is being put up or taken down.
- Audio-visual and entertainment equipment, and generators (owned or hired).
- Theft from an unattended marquee.
- Damage to flooring.
- Losses where the marquee supplier offers a suitable alternative of a similar standard.
- Weddings outside the UK. The Channel Islands and Isle of Man count as the UK.
To be covered, the marquee must be hired only for your wedding, and you must be contractually responsible for it.
Common questions
My venue provides the marquee. Do I need this?
Check your venue contract. If it makes you responsible for the marquee, this cover may be relevant.
Our marquee goes up a week early. Are we covered?
Only if your total hire period is 7 days or less. Cover lasts for the hire period you choose, up to a maximum of 7 consecutive days. If you’re responsible for the marquee for longer than 7 days, it can’t be covered.
Is the dance floor covered?
Staging is included, but damage to flooring isn’t.
