Making a claim

If something has happened that's affected your wedding, tell us online. It takes about 10-15 minutes, and you can add photos or PDFs of your documents as you go.

You will need your policy reference from your policy schedule.

Tell us early

Warning

If something's been stolen

Report it to the police within 24 hours of discovering it. You'll need a crime reference number for your claim - we'll ask for this when you submit.

If something's happened that may lead to a claim, let us know as soon as you can - and before you make decisions with your wedding suppliers. Cancelling a ceremony or reception can expose you to extra costs, and contacting us early lets us help keep those down.

Take reasonable steps to prevent any further loss, and keep hold of damaged items in case we need to inspect them.

What you'll need by claim type

Different claims need different evidence. Open whichever applies to you so you know what to gather before you start.

Cancellation, curtailment or rearrangement

If your wedding has been cancelled, cut short, or moved to a new date due to an insured event, you'll need:

  • Wedding supplier contracts showing deposits or final balances paid
  • Receipts, invoices and bank or credit card statements
  • Medical reports from a registered practitioner for illness-related claims
  • Death certificate where relevant
  • Written confirmation from your venue or suppliers of any costs you can't recover
  • For rearrangements: written quotes for the new date or any replacement suppliers

Supplier financial failure

If a wedding supplier you've paid has gone out of business, you'll need:

  • Your written contract or booking confirmation with the supplier
  • Proof of any deposits or advance payments — receipts, statements, transfer records
  • Evidence that the supplier has entered insolvency, such as a Companies House notice or administrator's letter
  • Confirmation you can't recover the loss elsewhere, including Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act or a chargeback scheme
  • This section of cover activates 45 days after you bought the policy.

Lost or damaged items - attire, rings, gifts

For lost, stolen or damaged wedding clothing, jewellery, rings, gifts, flowers or cake:

  • Purchase receipts and a description of the item
  • Photographs of the damage if relevant
  • Crime reference number if the loss involved theft
  • Written confirmation from an expert - jeweller, tailor - that an item is beyond repair
  • For hired ceremonial attire: a copy of the hire agreement

Photography or video

If your photos or videos can’t be delivered after your photographer or videographer has provided their services:

  • Written contract with the photographer or videographer
  • Proof of any payments made
  • Written confirmation from the supplier explaining why the images can’t be delivered (for example lost, damaged or corrupted media, or equipment failure)
  • A death certificate, if the photographer or videographer has died before delivery

Wedding transport

If your booked wedding transport let you down on the day:

  • Written contract or booking confirmation with the transport supplier
  • Evidence of any refund the supplier has agreed to issue
  • Receipts for the replacement transport you arranged
  • This section doesn't cover scheduled public transport - taxis, trains, airlines or buses.

Personal liability

If someone's been injured or someone's property has been damaged at your ceremony or reception:

  • Written notice of any claim or legal letter you've received
  • Details of what happened — date, time, location, what occurred
  • Contact details of anyone involved and any witnesses
  • Photographs of the scene or damage where relevant
  • Don't admit liability or agree to settle anything before speaking with us.
